Tremaine Farm is a working farm growing cereals as well as running a flock of 300 sheep. You may even see the tractors and combine harvester in action at harvest time. The footpath that links the villages of Pelynt and Lanreath runs through the farm boasting panoramic views and stunning sunsets.
Lanreath has a 14th Century Church and a small community run village shop. Pelynt is well known for its connections with Bishop Trelawny and the history can be seen within the church of St Nuns. Pelynt also has 2 village shops including a post office and cash machine. The Hive gift shop has locally crafted gifts. For food the Jubilee Inn with a restaurant providing local, freshly prepared meals. An abundance of excellent local restaurants only a short drive away in Looe, Polperro and Fowey.
South East Cornwall has stunning coastal footpaths, sandy beaches and coves leading you to panoramic countryside spaces for you to explore. The Cornish fishing towns and villages of Looe, Polperro, and Polruan, with Fowey just over the Bodinnick Ferry are each a 10 minute drive. The rugged bays of Lantic Bay, Lansallos, and Talland Bay are all within 5 miles of the farm. Cornwall has a wealth of amazing attractions. The Eden Project, St Mellion International Golf, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and beautiful National Trust properties and gardens of Lanhydrock, Cotehele and Antony. Boconnoc house and estate have an array of events also during the year.
Looe, Polperro and Fowey each have a plentiful supply of pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes, indulge in local freshly prepared dishes while on your Cornish holiday.
Walk the coastal footpath from Looe to Polperro and enjoy a cream tea in one of the beach cafes on the way at picturesque Talland Bay. Or take a boat to Looe Island or a mackerel fishing trip on a sunny afternoon.
Follow the filming locations of Captain Ross Poldark and explore Bodmin Moor where Nampara Cottage sets the scene or visit Charlestown Harbour. The tin mines are located along the North coast near St Just. The mines really are amazing to see. For the Doc Martin fans, a visit to Port Isaac is a not to be missed.
The Author Rosamunde Pilcher was born in 1924 in a little Cornish village of Lelant, just a few miles away. Many of her stories are set in the surrounding landscape of her childhood home of Lelant and Fowey. Read her books and trace her footsteps.
Fowey was Daphne du Maurier’s home, with her house an essential part of any fans visit, just a short drive from Tremaine Farm. You can always find some antiquarian copies of Daphne du Maurier’s books in Fowey, and trace the various locations of houses and villages featured in her books.
